All opinions are 100% my own. I did receive park entrance for my family and a voucher for parking to facilitate my post.
This past weekend we had the opportunity to head to Disney and celebrate the birthdays of both of our children. While we were there we were able to check out some of the things to do at Disney this Fall. Did you know there are secret scavenger hunts with small prizes? What about the fact that there are brand new rides at the park? No? Make sure to keep reading so you don’t miss out on the 10 things to do at Disney this Fall!
10 Things To Do at Disney This Fall
Disney’s Electrical Parade (This parade has been discontinued at Disney at this time)
Begin your Fall with an amazing night time parade that can’t be beat. The Disney’s Electrical Parade generally has an earlier and later night time showing that is sure to amaze. My son was completely passed out after a long day at Disney. The minute the parade started he was wide awake and captivated for the entire parade. Not only will you enjoy characters like Pete and his Magic Dragon, Cinderella, and Peter pan, you will also get to spend some time with Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and many more of your favorite Disney friends! There is something so magical about turning down all of the lights in the park and watching some of your favorite characters dance in a parade of light. Don’t take too long though. This parade will be leaving Disney World Orlando on October 9th. Please note that this experience will not perform during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on the following dates: September 11. 13, 15, 18, 20, 23, 25, 29, 30 2016 October 2, 4, 6, 7
Disney’s Frozen Ever After Ride
A lot of my friends have been discussing this ride. With ride times topping out at 3 and 4 hours I have had friends camping out with kindles and picnics to wait for this ride. I don’t know whether there was a special helping of pixie dust or a little extra Disney magic when we went but we were able to get a 15-minute wait for this ride by going straight to it the minute the park opened. The ride queue is beautifully done and filled with elements of the story. We really enjoyed walking through Oaken’s Trading Post in the ride queue. He sang let it go while sitting in the sauna and on more than one occasion peeked through the fogged up window to say hello. The ride itself was not very long at all but the animatronics were incredible! I will warn you if you have a child that is easily scared that there is a small backwards drop and a little bit larger forward drop on this ride. As a whole, while it is a shorter ride, it will be an enjoyable ride for any Frozen fan. (If you aren’t a Frozen fan, save your time for something you will enjoy more.)
Soarin Around The World
One of the updated rides that impressed me the most at Disney World was Soarin Around The World in Epcot! The homeschool mom in me loved the educational questions about different parts of the world in the ride queue. The adventurer in me loved boarding the ride vehicle and flying all over the world. I am a bit of a pansy but this ride left me feeling safe while still feeling like I was flying next the the Eiffel Tower, soaring over the pyramids, or gliding above beautiful waterfalls. This ride utilizes a 4D experience. Not only will you see the sights, feel the wind in your face, but you will smell the smells as you go on your adventure. I definitely recommend taking a few minutes and enjoying this ride with the family. Update – I have ridden this again and I have decided this is one my 3 favorite Disney rides!
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
This is a separately ticketed event. Prices will start at $72 a night. You can find out more information at the Disney Website. At the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party your children will have the chance to come out in costume and enjoy some of the rides the park normally offers as well as shows, candy, a dance party, and special themed meet and greets.
We actually made it out to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and we were more than impressed! This is such a magical experience and you don’t want to miss it if you can afford to go.
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
Hades hopes to take over the Magic Kingdom. Stop at the fire station when you first enter the park to pick up your starter kit that will include your cards. As you spend the day in the park you will have the opportunity to interact with different portals using the cards you received. Your goal is to keep Magic Kingdom safe. This is a fantastic free keepsake of your trip to the parks.
Star Wars Launch Bay
If you are looking for an awesome experience for the Star Wars fan in your life you do not want to miss the Star Wars Launch Bay! We stepped inside for the Launch Bay to cool off for a bit and spend some time with our favorite characters from Star Wars. I still can’t decide whether my husband or my children had a better time. We tried to trade with Jawas, Kylo Ren tried to recruit my son as an apprentice, and my daughter discussed the weather with Chewie. There were so many interactive options for the kids and for my husband to enjoy. I am sure that we could have spent hours here if we would have had more time. Watch out for the Storm Troopers though. They are out and aren’t afraid to correct you if you get in their way.
Update – There is now a BB-8 meet and greet as well in this area.
Star Tours has gotten a complete redo and it is well worth a visit! This ride is jaw-droppingly awesome! (not sure if that’s a word but it is now!) The ride queue is very engaging. We really enjoyed the robot scanning all of the luggage. He had some very fun quips that kept us laughing while we waited. There are multiple rides that you could go through so your experience could be different each time your ride. The 3D ride experience was a ton of fun. My daughter is typically afraid of rides like this and she was begging us to put her back on the ride again when it was over.
Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire
It’s time to head to the castle for an amazing show you won’t want to miss! Mickey and his friends are welcoming characters from Tangled, Princess and The Frog, and Frozen to the Friendship Faire in this new Castle Show! Check your park map for show times. This is a definitely must see. If you have a child with sensitivities to fireworks there are small fireworks included in this show.
Meet Anna and Elsa at Royal Sommerhus
Head to this sweet little Summer house nestled in a village in Norway to meet Anna and Elsa. This home is beautiful inside and out with grass growing on the roof and fine woodwork inside and out. I really did feel like I was stepping back into a fantasy land.
A Pirate’s Adventures – Treasures of the Seven Seas
Are you looking to head on an adventure with your family? Pick up a map and head on an adventure. There are a few different adventures you can go on using your magic band or park ticket. Each step unlocks the next component of the adventure. When you find the treasure you will win a card to commemorate the end of your journey. This is a great way to get a free memento of your trip while killing time until a fast pass is ready to be used.
