I was provided a microscope for this review. However, it does not influence my review as all opinions are 100% my own.
This year we have been working on more hands-on learning with our Science. When I received an email from My First Lab to try out one of their new microscopes I didn’t hesitate. I have been looking at a lot of the different microscopes on the market as I wanted to start adding this to our Science lessons. I am going to share a My First Lab DuoScope review and giveaway for you.
My First Lab Duo Scope review and giveaway
My son was so excited about this microscope. He spent hours every day this week looking at different things and making observations.
The box comes with everything pictured above to get you ready for exploring. There are a few slides that are already prepared. They also give you slides to do your own experiments with empty slides. The slides are glass and high quality. It also comes with the red and blue dye as well as a pipette to help your child do different experiments.
This microscope has three different settings. You can see 4X, 10X, and 40X objectives with this microscope. This gives the opportunity to look at two different types of items. You can magnify larger items with the 4 and 10 x options while still having the option to see much smaller items with the 40X objective.
The real glass lenses are one of the big selling points for me. We also loved the simplicity of the dual focusing knobs to get our items into focus.
This product does run on 3 AA batteries and seems to last quite a while on one charge.
This microscope has 2 lights and options to light an item from above or below. Once we learned how to get this working we were amazed by the different things you could see that were so tiny.
I loved that it took something so small and made it feel so big for the kids. They really enjoyed seeing so many different items. I also appreciated the fact that it gave a clear image of what we were magnifying.
The actual microscope is made of high-quality materials. I have a feeling that this one will last for a long time as it isn’t all cheap plastic and low-quality material.
There are also liftable clamps so that you can look at slides or other items using your microscope. As you can see, my son had one specific item he really wanted to see up close. He loved the ability to run into the yard and pick different items to investigate closer. (The item in the pic is not from the yard.)
Where can I find one?
