As a working homeschool mom, I have a lot on my plate. It can be hard to keep up with everything on a normal day without some great things to help me out. Instead of letting life get the best of me, I have been trying to let these items help to simplify and organize things a bit. Let me share 9 things that simplify my life in case they will help you simplify yours.
9 Things That Simplify My Life
If you have something else that I should add to this list please leave me a comment. I am all for things that will make life simpler.
I know he isn’t a thing. I just couldn’t make this list without honoring all he does to simplify things around here for me. He took over all the laundry for the household. If that doesn’t make you want a hallelujah chorus I don’t know what will. He’s also stepped in since I have started working to help with homeschooling the kids. I seriously couldn’t do it without him. He is such a huge help!
I would seriously be done for if it wasn’t for my weekly meal plan. It is so much easier to shop on purpose when I have a clearly defined meal plan. I love that it is so easy to feed the family quality food and I don’t have to worry last minute what’s for dinner. In the coming weeks, I will be sharing more about how I meal plan and how you can save stress by meal planning.
Ok, so I have the generic Aldi version of it but I love this thing. My mom bought it for me for Christmas and I had to know if it was worth the hype. It definitely is. The chicken soup above was made in a hurry before I rushed to work. I was able to feed the family off of it all day. Sometimes a crock pot just won’t do the trick. This is a great option if you are short on time but still want quality food packed with flavor.
Math used to be my biggest nightmare in my homeschool. My girl and I just didn’t get along well with the curriculum we used to use. We both didn’t like each other and she wasn’t learning. We moved to Teaching Textbooks and I never plan to look back! Not only is it self-grading, hello! It is also all about independent learning! I am a huge advocate of independent learning as kids get older.
I would lose my mind if it weren’t for my Google Calendar. I can synch it for work, home, homeschool, and blog related items. It makes it so much easier to keep up with all I am committed to thanks to a calendar that is synched to my computer and my phone. I love that my husband can add to if needed and that I can modify it while at the orthodontist or when planning a homeschool get together.
Let me explain. This beauty has been the easiest way to send the noise outside! I can challenge the kids to go shoot hoops together if they are too hyper, give them a brain break between lessons, or go shoot hoops with them after I get off work. It gets them active and makes my house more peaceful. I seriously love this thing!
As the kids get older I don’t get as much quiet time each day. That said, I try to make some time in the day when they are in their rooms and I can just take a few minutes of quiet and get ready for the rest of the day. As an extroverted introvert, I people out after a while and just need a break. That little bit of quiet simplifies my day enough that I can finish strong.
Thrift Store Donation
Let me explain. I find that I have to constantly donate things out. It simplifies my life so much when I don’t have to clean the same clutter 20 times. Since the house fire, I have definitely gone more minimalistic than I once was. You know what? I love it. With less stuff, I find I have more peace. I also love that by donating it I am helping someone out.
I seriously use this thing all day long! I already gushed about how we use Google Home in our homeschool. It really is great for so much and it simplifies my life so much. If I am in the kitchen working on a recipe, I can ask Google to convert measurements. I can also use it to listen to music. Let me just be honest, that is one of my most common uses for it and I adore being able to have playlists going all day.
