Homeschooling is an amazing adventure! You get to be there for the highs and the lows. There are days when you get to celebrate wins and days when you just want to pull out your hair. With homeschooling there is much more time together than if you made a different schooling choice. Here’s the thing. I am an introvert and peopling can get beyond exhausting. It gets even more tiring when my mini me’s start talking at 6 AM and don’t stop ALL day. People often ask, “why is quiet time important?” I quickly found out the importance of quiet time.
I have been homeschooling for over 6 years now. It has been beautiful and exhausting. In that time I have heard so many different comments on the enemy of homeschool. Some say common core is the enemy. Others blame the school system. Others blame the government. After all this time, I have to believe there is a bigger enemy. It is a quiet one attacking in anonymity and leaving behind wreckage that often isn’t shared. Let me tell you a little bit about the real enemy of homeschool.

Summer is just around the corner. It’s hard to believe another school year is almost over. Many of my friends are talking about their plans. Some are taking trips. Some have to navigate summer school. Others are using the summer as a practice run for homeschool. It has me asking, What about summer break? Whether you are homeschooling or not, this is an important question to ask and I think I have a few answers and few tips to help you out.
