Are you Eggcited for the letter E this week? We had so much fun with the letter E this week. It turns out E is for Elf, Eyes, Ears, Elephants, and Eggs!
- E is for Eyes/Ears – For this we went on Google Images and checked out all kinds of big ears. You would be surprised how many animals have big ears and how many have very tiny ones. We did the same thing with eyes. We also played music loud and then quietly to see how our ears hear.
- E is for Elf. – This was a request by R. I added it to the board but we didn’t do much besides drawing an elf.
- E is for Elephants – I went online with C and we looked up Elephants and how they behave. It was fun to pretend to be elephants!
- E is for Egg – My aunt has chickens so we went on a field trip to her house. Here is a bit of the fun we had learning about eggs. You can easily do the same by visiting a local farm or find someone selling organic chicken eggs and ask if you can come out with the kids to see their chickens.
This is one of the girls who did all the hard work.
C was having a lot of fun clucking and chicken dancing at the chicken.
This isn’t her egg but she was laying as well.
C really loved looking in the laying box.
C pulled the fresh egg out of the box. He was so intrigued by it. Sadly it was dropped so it became a bigger teaching tool.
R learned that the egg is warm when it is first lain. She was able to feel the difference in fresh food and store bought.
R was able to peel and prepare the corn for the chickens. She made sure to throw it in and they went crazy!
R and C poured in the cracked corn for the girls.
